  • PICCASO Privacy Awards Europe

    PICCASO with GRC World Forums · annual (since 2021) · London

    What it is: An annual awards programme recognising individuals, teams and platforms across privacy, information security, AI and compliance, run since 2021 with the 2025 ceremony held in London across roughly two dozen categories.

    Independence note: Delivered by PICCASO — a not-for-profit special-interest group — in partnership with a commercial events business, and it includes vendor and platform categories with sponsors. Well-established in the UK/European market, but not a fully independent programme; judge the category and sponsor mix for yourself.

  • Global Privacy and Data Protection Awards

    Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) · annual · international

    What it is: Awards through which accredited data protection and privacy authorities recognise good practice among their peers — across categories such as education and public awareness, accountability, enforcement co-operation and innovation.

    Independence note: A regulator-community programme, independent of vendors and industry. The GPA also runs the Giovanni Buttarelli Award and a Privacy & Human Rights Award. Entrants are regulators, not commercial organisations.

  • IAPP Leadership Award

    International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) · annual · presented at the IAPP Global Summit

    What it is: An annual award recognising an individual's sustained contribution to privacy, AI governance or cyber-law, selected by IAPP leadership and presented at the association's Global Summit.

    Independence note: An association award (nomination-based, not paid-entry), decided internally by the IAPP.

  • IAPP Vanguard Award

    International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) · annual · per IAPP region

    What it is: An annual award honouring one IAPP member in each of the association's five global regions for creativity and impact in the field.

    Independence note: An association award, member-nominated and decided internally. (The former HP–IAPP Privacy Innovation Award was retired in January 2024 and is no longer offered.)

  • PICCASO Privacy Awards Africa

    PICCASO with Africa Digital Rights Hub · inaugural December 2025 · Accra

    What it is: The Africa edition of the PICCASO awards, first held in December 2025 alongside the Data Protection Africa Summit in Accra, in partnership with the Africa Digital Rights Hub.

    Independence note: Same association-plus-commercial-partner model as the European programme; a young edition — verify the current cycle before relying on it.

    What it is: A Canadian edition of the PICCASO awards referenced on the organiser's site.

    The A.I. Awards — Best Consideration of Ethics and Governance in AI

    Cloud Awards (part of the A.I. Awards) · annual · international

    What it is: A category within the A.I. Awards, part of the commercial Cloud/A.I. Awards family, recognising organisations that address ethics and governance in AI.

    Independence note: A paid-entry, commercial awards programme run by an events business. Winning is a marketing credential, not an independent assessment of an organisation's AI-governance maturity.

    Leaders in Responsible AI Awards

    Responsible AI Institute (RAI Institute) · annual · international

    What it is: Awards recognising individuals and organisations advancing responsible AI, run by the Responsible AI Institute.

    Independence note: The RAI Institute is a membership organisation that also sells responsible-AI certification and services, so there is a commercial dimension to the programme — worth bearing in mind when weighing the recognition.
