The Information Commissioner’s Office runs a free, online conference each autumn for the people who do data protection and freedom of information work day to day. Sessions are given mostly by ICO policy and casework staff, with external speakers on some panels, and the programme tracks whatever the regulator is currently guiding on.

What is on the 2026 programme

Per the ICO’s seminar list, read 4 September 2026: twelve live practical sessions. Data protection topics include agentic AI and an update on the ICO’s agentic AI guidance; the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 complaints requirement; AI and automated decision-making under the updated rules and the ICO’s draft guidance; Article 49 derogations and the UK GDPR transfers toolkit; handling challenging subject access requests; cyber resilience (Cyber Essentials, the Cyber Governance Code of Practice, the Cyber Resilience Pledge); health data for research under the DUAA research provisions, with updates to the anonymisation guidance; and a panel on the DPO role hosted by the Black Privacy Professionals Network. FOI strands cover the public interest test after Montague, using technology for rising caseloads, and an open clinic. Recordings of previous years are published on ico.org.uk.
